Advancing the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026)

Türkiye has taken another step forward in preparations for the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026), with Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır meeting representatives from the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and the event’s Local Organising Committee to review progress.
The Congress will be held in Antalya from 5-9 October 2026 and is regarded as the world’s largest and most influential gathering of the global space community, bringing together government agencies, defence and space industry leaders, researchers and technology innovators.
The meeting included Yusuf Kıraç, President of the Turkish Space Agency and host of IAC 2026; Murat İkinci, Vice Chair of the SAHA stanbul Board representing co-host SAHA stanbul; and IAF Executive Director Christian Feichtinger, accompanied by IAF Senior Advisor Elena Feichtinger.
Discussions covered Türkiye’s national space vision, recent space and aerospace projects, the rapid expansion of its space industry ecosystem, and the strategic value of hosting IAC 2026. Participants highlighted the Congress as an opportunity to enhance Türkiye’s international visibility while showcasing national capabilities across space, defence, aviation and advanced technologies.
IAC 2026 will be held under the theme. The World Needs More Space and is expected to feature cutting-edge research, emerging technologies and policy discussions focused on ensuring space remains secure, accessible and sustainable.
Preparations for IAC 2026 in Antalya are continuing as Türkiye positions itself as an increasingly significant player in the global space and defence landscape.
