NASA expects to undock the SpaceX Crew-8 mission from the International Space Station on Thursday morning, Australia time.
An advisory from the space agency says undocking should occur at 8.05 am (AEDST) on October 24, 2024.
Pending weather conditions, the splashdown time is targeted for around 6.30 pm (AEDST) on Friday, October 25, off the coast of Florida.
Onboard are NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, and Jeanette Epps, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin. They have completed a seven-month science expedition aboard the orbiting laboratory and will return important and time-sensitive research to Earth.
Mission managers continue monitoring weather conditions in the area, as Dragon’s undocking depends on various factors, including spacecraft readiness, recovery team readiness, weather, sea states, and other factors. NASA will select a specific splashdown time and location closer to the Crew-8 spacecraft undocking.
Crew-8 return activities can be viewed on the NASA+ channel. Continuous coverage of the return will start before the de-orbit burn.
