The Western Australian Government has opened applications for its $1.75 million Spaceport Establishment Support Grant, aimed at accelerating the development of space launch facilities in the state.
The grant program is designed to support early-stage activities required to establish a spaceport, defined as a site equipped for launching, receiving, testing or maintaining spacecraft and rockets. Funding will assist with site assessments, planning and regulatory approvals, including securing a lease for a proposed site and developing a detailed business case.
Applicants can seek between $200,000 and $1.75 million, with the total funding pool able to be awarded to a single applicant or split among multiple projects. Successful applicants must provide matched funding of at least 1:1 against the amount requested from the state government.
The program is administered by the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification and forms part of Western Australia’s broader strategy to expand local space industry capability and support the growth of a sustainable space ecosystem.
Applications are open until 2:00pm AWST on Friday 15 May 2026, with submissions to be made through the SmartyGrants portal.
