Interest is building in the upcoming 76th International Astronautical Congress in Sydney in late September. So far, the IAC has received 6,400 abstracts from 103 countries. These are set to fuel discussions and innovations in the space sector.
This year, Australia, the host country for IAC 2025, has made a significant mark with 505 abstracts submitted, accounting for 8% of the total contributions. This participation underscores the global space community’s commitment to advancing space exploration and technology.
The space sector has solidified its position once again as a pivotal topic on the global agenda, riding a wave of enthusiasm that began at IAC 2022 in Paris with an incredible 3,558 abstracts from 97 countries.
IAC is welcoming new contributors from Kiribati and Brunei Darussalam, further expanding the community’s frontiers. Leading the charge in submissions are:
-
United States: 724 abstracts;
-
Azerbaijan: 632 abstracts; and
-
India: 565 abstracts.
Italy, last year’s IAC host, remains strong with 391 abstracts, followed by Germany (299), Japan (273), UK (241), and a surprising entry from Mexico (183), which previously hosted the IAC in 2016.
These impressive figures reflect the interest in IAC 2025, which will have the theme of “Sustainable Space : Resilient Earth.” This theme will guide our discussions on the critical need for collaboration across all regions, connecting the global space community to ensure a sustainable future for Earth and beyond.
As momentum continues to build for Sydney, the IAC says it looks forward to engaging with thought leaders, researchers, and enthusiasts who are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space.
IAC 2025 will run between September 29 – October 3, 2025.
