The Australian Government’s National Intelligence Discovery Grants (NIDG) Program, formerly known as the National Intelligence and Security Discovery Research Grants (NISDRG) Program, has been revised to include space-based challenges.
Space-based challenges include “the ability to leverage low-cost and innovative technological advances in space-based and high-altitude capabilities in a timely manner to improve collection, communication and analysis capabilities.
Research fields include satellite communications, sensors and networks, automation and onboard processing and analysis, advanced materials, space-based situation awareness, and counter space-denial capabilities.
The Office of National Intelligence, on behalf of the national intelligence community, established the NISDRG program in response to the 2017 Independent Intelligence Review’s recommendations covering science, technology and innovation.
Now part of the NIDG Program, the Intelligence Challenges Grant opportunity provides support to research that aligns with the Australian government’s priority research areas. These areas are outlined in the Intelligence Challenges developed under the National Security Science and Technology Priorities and generally focus on deepening understanding of emerging science and technology that addresses intelligence and national security interests.
The Intelligence Challenges EOI Grant opportunity period is August 26 – September 24, 2024.
