We speak again with Jonathan Hung, Executive Director of the Office for Space Technology & Industry in Singapore, who outlines recent developments and future plans for OSTIn initiatives. In 2025, the program launched its “Next Bound” strategy and secured a new $60 million tranche, adding to a total of $210 million committed over five years.
Mr. Hung highlights recent grant calls, including one in partnership with the Maritime Port Authority, focusing on maritime applications and disaster management. He also discussed the Earth Observation Initiative — a collaboration involving 15 partners — aimed at addressing real-world challenges through satellite technologies.
Looking ahead, he announced that the 2026 Space Summit will focus on climate change, satellite innovation, and policy discussions, with participation from heads of space agencies around the world. The summit will be followed by the Singapore Space Symposium, which will provide a technical platform for further collaboration and dialogue within the region’s growing space ecosystem.
