The Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Lloyd as chief executive officer.

Lloyd brings 20 years of global and Australian experience in a wide range of senior leadership roles across the private sector and government, including as Vodafone Group’s public policy director for Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific, head of regulatory of Vodafone India in Mumbai, chief strategy officer and corporate affairs director of Vodafone Australia, senior adviser to the Communications Minister Michelle Rowland, and senior associate at Gilbert + Tobin Lawyers.

“SIAA is delighted to announce Dan Lloyd’s appointment as CEO,” said SIAA Chairperson Jeremy Hallett. “Dan brings an unusual breadth of experience across policy, regulation, strategy, governance, commercial leadership and international business which will be invaluable to SIAA, its members and key stakeholders. Dan’s constructive approach and extensive experience is exactly what the space industry needs to go to the next level.”

“The Board extends its thanks to Lisa Vitaris, who has done an excellent job as interim CEO over the past seven and a half months,” added Hallett. “Her hard work, determination, leadership skills, and professionalism have all contributed to her success in carrying out two highly demanding, challenging roles simultaneously.”

“It is a great privilege to be leading SIAA through the next phase of growth of the Australian space industry,” said Lloyd. “Australia has extraordinary competitive advantages in a host of space-related areas: not least our unique geography, stable regulatory environment, and a highly-educated and innovative workforce and culture.”

“I look forward to working with SIAA’s members, all sides of government and the broader space community to drive targeted initiatives which ensure the Australian Space Industry goes from strength to strength.”

Lloyd will take up the CEO’s role on March 3, 2025.
