One Giant Leap Australia Foundation (One Giant Leap Australia) and Electro Optic Systems (EOS) are offering four high school students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to receive a partial scholarship valued at AUD5,000 to attend Space Tour USA 2025.

The tour will take the young space explorers to the renowned Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, from October 28 to November 9, 2025.

Space Camp, which has been operational for over 42 years and has more than one million alumni, is an internationally recognised program based on NASA astronaut training and focuses on teamwork and leadership skills.
One Giant Leap Australia has provided tours to Space Camp since 2015, and the space education organisation is excited to return.

“For the second year running, EOS has made it possible for successful students to significantly reduce the cost of their trip,” said One Giant Leap Director Jackie Carpenter. “The experience continues to be transformative. Past attendees of our Space Tour USA often describe it as a defining moment in their lives.”

“Thanks to EOS, we are once again able to provide this extraordinary opportunity to students who might not otherwise have the chance to take part,” she added.

“EOS is committed to nurturing homegrown talent by investing in STEM initiatives that equip young Australians with the skills and experience to thrive in the space industry,” said EOS Space Systems VP James Bennett. “Through internships, scholarships, and our partnership with One Giant Leap and Space Camp USA, we are proud to help shape the next generation of space professionals.”

The tour’s itinerary includes visits to Disneyland, California Science Centre, Northrop Grumman, and the Griffith Observatory. The schedule also features a day of STEM activities with One Giant Leap’s USA STEM expert, dinner with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientists and engineers, and a visit to Space Camp USA.

Applicants need to create a two-minute video explaining why they want to go. Applicants will need a letter of support from a parent or guardian and another from a respected community member, and they must be available for a two-day space boot camp in January 2026 (exact dates TBA).

Applications close midnight (AEDT) April 25, 2025, with winners notified on April 30, 2025.
