Lockheed Martin Australia has established a new custom-fit logistics warehouse facility in Sydney to provide dedicated warehousing services to support the Australian Army operate and maintain their world-class, multi-role UH-60M Black Hawk fleet.

Located nearby the Australian Army’s Holsworthy Base, the 4500 square metre warehouse was established as part of Lockheed Martin Australia’s Integrated Support Contract with the Australian Army. This warehouse stores replenishment spares, support and test equipment, and provisions for the Black Hawk operations in Australia.

Thirty warehouse and logistics jobs were created in Sydney under the Black Hawk support contract, with options to grow as the fleet expands over the coming years.

As the sovereign industry partner providing integrated support services to the Black Hawks, Lockheed Martin Australia has rapidly grown the industrial workforce to 170 employees across the program since mid-2023.

“I commend the Australian Army and our team for the rapid establishment of the logistics warehouse facility.” Lockheed Martin ANZ CEO Warren McDonald said. “This warehouse increases Australia’s operational readiness by ensuring the Australian Army’s Black Hawk fleet are well supplied, maintained and combat ready.”

“Our to work hand-in-hand with the Australian Army,” said Lockheed Martin Australia’s Program Manager Rodahn Gibbon. “We pride ourselves in the deep understanding we bring to rotary wing support services and how we apply these services to the Black Hawk program through our support contract.”

The warehouse features two state-of-the-art computer-controlled Vertical Lift Machines. These machines, by stacking spares vertically triple the inventory holding capacity without any increase in floor space.

The vertical lift machines also increase efficiency by minimising travel between warehouse locations and improve ergonomics support of the workforce by delivering goods to the operator.
