IAC 2025 Plenary Programme announced

The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) together with the Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA) as host – is delighted to present the Host  Plenary of IAC 2025.

This signature session highlights the unique perspectives and contributions of the host country, with special recognition of the indispensable knowledge and guidance of Australia’s First Peoples.
Space is not empty or dark. There is no such thing as Space nullius. Space is alive, and like all living things, it needs care, respect, and balance. Without embracing this perspective, exploration cannot be truly sustainable.

This Plenary will explore how co-discovery in the space sector, through structured collaboration between Western science and Indigenous knowledge, can unlock fresh insights into space and sustainability. Just as multi-messenger astronomy combines detection methods to enrich cosmic understanding, so too can methodological integration reveal patterns in earth-sky relationships not visible through one approach alone.

Key themes include:

  • Developing institutional mechanisms for knowledge integration
  • Creating professional pathways for future experts
  • Establishing validation protocols across alternate ways of knowing
