Due to forecast winds impacting pre-launch preparations, Gilmour Space is targeting no earlier than July 2 for the start the launch window for is maiden Eris rocket launch.
The company warns this date remains highly dependent on weather, winds, and ongoing testing and may be postponed.
The current forecast around the Bowen Spaceport area is for a sunny day with light south to south-westerly winds. However, upper level winds may pose a challenge. Gilmour Space had hoped to launch last week, but pushed the date back several days because of this.
The highly anticipated launch has been delayed multiple times, initially by regulatory tardiness and, more recently, by technical problems with the rocket. However, CEO Adam Gilmour says everything has been recently tested and notwithstanding the winds, the launch should be good to go this week.
