Australian space technology startup has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SOMPO Japan Insurance Incorporated and SOMPO Risk Management Incorporated. The MOU, signed in Tokyo on July 15, 2024, aims to introduce ANT61’s beacon technology to Japanese satellite operators and manufacturers.

The beacon technology ensures that satellite operators can confidently achieve successful missions by maintaining continuous communication with their satellites, even during primary system failures.

“We are thrilled to partner with SOMPO Japan and SOMPO Risk Management,” said ANT61 Founder and CEO Mikhail Asavkin. “This partnership with a major Japanese group marks a significant milestone for ANT61 and demonstrated once again that the Australian space industry produces world-class products.”

Under the MOU, SOMPO Japan, a satellite insurance company, and SOMPO Risk Management, a satellite operations risk consulting business, will work alongside ANT61 to provide solutions that improve the reliability and success rate of satellite launches.

ANT61 says the collaboration will help advance the Japanese space industry by offering satellite operators the assurance they need to innovate and expand their capabilities.
