The call for late-breaking abstracts for the International Astronautical Federation’s Global Space Conference on Climate Change (GLOC 2026) is now open, offering researchers and practitioners a final opportunity to contribute newly emerging ideas to the conference programme.
With GLOC 2026 rapidly taking shape and global momentum around climate collaboration accelerating following recent international developments, including COP 30, the late-breaking abstracts call is designed to capture timely research and innovative concepts that were not ready during the standard submission cycle.
The conference will focus on the theme “Uniting Space and Earth for Climate Resilience”, and the late-breaking abstracts process is intended to highlight bold, unexpected and original work that advances this goal. Submissions should reflect fresh findings, novel approaches or projects that redefine current thinking at the intersection of space and climate action.
Abstracts may be submitted across nine topic areas, including climate adaptation and resilience, greenhouse gas monitoring and impact assessment, artificial intelligence for climate resilience, service development and data access, disaster and emergency management, governance and climate policy alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, space technology and innovation, climate-focused economy and finance, and outreach, education and international collaboration.
The submission deadline is 3 February 2026 at 9:59am AEDT (2 February 2026 at 23:59 CET). The deadline is firm and no extensions will be granted. Successful submissions will be incorporated into the GLOC 2026 technical programme as interactive presentations, providing contributors with the opportunity to present their work to an international audience of space and climate stakeholders.
GLOC 2026 continues to position itself as a global forum for advancing collaboration between the space and climate communities, with the late-breaking abstracts call aimed at ensuring the programme reflects the most current and impactful developments in the field.
